About this listen
March 10th marks the 65th Anniversary of the loss of Celilo Falls, on the Columbia River. The longest inhabited community on the North American continent. Carbon dated to over 10,000 years, it was a trading center for many tribes. To the Natives of the area, it is a cultural icon. It's flooding was a great loss to their people. Aurolyn Stwyer and Sean Cruz of The Friends of Celilo Falls are working to protect and return the falls to their former glory.
