Today we remember Saint Athanasius Parios, a great theologian and teacher from the island of Paros. Born around 1721, he was a leading figure in the Kollyvades movement, which emphasized strict adherence to holy Tradition and frequent reception of Holy Communion. Saint Athanasius faced opposition and persecution for his beliefs but remained steadfast. He was a prolific writer and educator, influencing many other saints and contributing greatly to Orthodox theology and education. He reposed in 1813 at the age of ninety.
