In this episode of the Script to Scream podcast we go live, recording our first live podcast at the wonderful Screams By The Sea Film Festival in Bournemouth. For this episode we decided to do something a littler different from our ordinary episodes and look at The Anatomy of a Scare, breaking down what makes a truly effective scare by dissecting two of our favourite scares and what makes them so effective.

What are the scares in question I hear you ask. Well we have chosen to bangers: The chest burster from Alien and the monster in the caves from The Descent.

Listen in as we break down these scares and put them context as we dissect how the screenplays put in place all the foundations in the build up to these iconic scares.

In this episode of Script to Scream we take a look at one the of the darkest British horror films ever made. The viscerally real survival horror Eden Lake!! From writer director James Watkins, and with a stellar cast, Eden Lake brought us a bleak vision of class and youth disaffection in modern Britain. Violent, horrific and packed full of powerful themes, Eden Lake is a hard watch but a true classic of the genre.
