About this listen

Studmarks is a fell running podcast rooted in the history, culture, and community of the sport.

Each episode features thoughtful conversations with runners, race organisers, volunteers, and local characters, uncovering the stories behind classic races, unwritten rules, and the values that define fell running: self-reliance, respect for the mountains, and a strong sense of community. Alongside personal journeys, Studmarks reflects on how the sport has evolved while holding on to its distinctive character.

Studmarks is about shared experience as much as individual effort—muddy shoes, borrowed safety pins and post-race brews.

  • BONUS EPISODE | Harry Bolton
    Apr 4 2026

Harry Bolton returns to Studmarks to lift the lid on the next evolution of RonHill footwear — the all-new Reverence 2 and SL. After the strong debut of the original model, we dive into how it was received out on the fells and what runners really thought when they put it to the test.

Harry walks us through how real-world feedback — from grip and feel to durability and performance in rough terrain — directly shaped the design changes in the new shoes.

If you’re into kit, design, or just want to understand how a shoe evolves from version one to version two, this one’s for you.

    Mar 29 2026

In this episode of Studmarks, Fran Blackett joins us to share her journey from her very first steps into fell running to becoming an award-winning coach. She reflects on the lessons learned along the way, the challenges she’s faced, and what it takes to support others in the sport.

We also explore the importance of female-only spaces in running, why they matter, and how they can help more women feel confident and supported on the fells. Fran gives an honest and refreshing insight into returning to running after childbirth.

A thoughtful and inspiring conversation about resilience, community, and carving your own path in the sport.

Thoroughly enjoyed the episodes (so far) I kind of like the "rough edge" of the whole atmosphere generated by the interviewer/interviewees. The Podcasts don't have a polished (Corporate) feel about them. it's people who are genuinely enthused about the PB Walsh and Fell Running. I'm 61 now and I wish I had been introduced to Fell Running as a child. It's as simple as competitive racing could be. Oh, and, I'll be at the next episode of the "Trigger", my "Nemesis" currently Me 2 completions and 1 DNF. Wish me luck 🤞🏻
