I am Michelle Walters, creator of “Talk on to Walk on”. In 2020, I stepped back from 30 years in the corporate world. I now know I had burn out. The global lockdown timing was fortuitous giving me permission to pause for longer than I thought I needed.

And so began my healing process - a story I have still yet to fully share but, “Talk on to Walk on” was born and you hear glimpses of my story during my shared conversations throughout the podcast episodes.

Be it by circumstance, habit or fear of judgment, we are all guilty of keeping true feelings and desires buried. As a result we then limit ourselves in the life we want to lead.

“Talk on to Walk on” which has evolved into a coaching, mentoring and talks offer, is my way of addressing this.

My husband, Patrick, an accomplished corporate leader, business and life mentor now joins me and you on our joint, life journeys.

We met and changed our careers while navigating midlife. We are passionate about sharing our ongoing mindset lessons as well as inspirational life stories from guests who, through simple conversations and positive self talk, found the courage to ‘walk on’ to where they are today.

We believe with the right mindset and courage to open up to the right people, there is no limit to what can be achieved, at any stage of life and this is our offer to you.

Please do subscribe, rate and review. You are helping us to share our mindset messages, supporting our community and encouraging more people to share how they really feel and to take the steps towards their dreams.

“Talk on to Walk on” supports Liverpool community causes and charities both financially and through our voluntary talks and flexible payment coaching offer. If you like what you hear and wish to take the smallest steps to create the life you really want, whatever your age, then please do connect with us.

Episode 47: Why We Travel And Why It's Never Too Late to Start

Michelle and Patrick explore their shared love of travel, where their passion came from, and why midlife might actually be the perfect time to embrace adventure.

From childhood sparks, Patrick's love of National Geographic magazines whilst growing up in Kenya, Michelle listening to her merchant navy uncle's tales around the Christmas table to their most recent adventures in Bali, Kenya, Rome, and Scotland, this episode is an honest, funny, and inspiring conversation about what travel really gives you.

    In this episode they cover:

    • The difference between going on holiday and going on an adventure, and why both have their place
    • How a love of travel often starts long before you can afford it and why your "inherited blueprint" matters
    • Why imperfect trips make the best stories (a B&B that wasn't ready, wrong-way subway rides in New York, getting soaked in Scotland in January)
    • The real benefits of travel: improved mental health, cognitive sharpness, social connection, and the confidence that comes from problem-solving on the go
    • Why talking to locals, taxi drivers, waiters, shopkeepers is one of the richest things you can do anywhere in the world
    • Their visit to Restart Africa, a children's charity in Kenya founded by Mary Coulson, which gave them a profound perspective shift
    • Practical tips: don't over plan, build in rest, travel off-season, ignore the stereotypes, and crucially, "just book it"
    • Why many midlifers value experiences over things, and why the post-COVID hunger to travel is entirely understandable
    • The importance of staying fit and well so travel remains an opportunity for as long as possible

Key takeaway: Get a map out. Write down where you've always wanted to go. Don't dismiss it. There will always be a reason not to go but if you do it, you won't regret it.

  • #46 10 Years of Change 2016 - 2026
    Jan 29 2026

    10 Years of Change: 2016–2026

In this episode, Michelle and Patrick reflect on the decade that changed everything from a time when they hadn’t yet met, and life looked very different.

Michelle shares honestly about where she was ten years ago, grieving the loss of her mum, navigating divorce, and relying on antidepressants to get through the day.

Both admit how, after they met, what followed wasn’t a sudden transformation but a relationship built on honest and often difficult conversations.

They reflect how 2019 especially, was a year that was anything but calm.

Despite the busyness, they made intentional choices about where to place their energy, creating a memorable wedding and re-building a home for their future together. A reminder that even in the busiest of times, we still get to choose what matters.

    Together they talk about:-

    • how difficult it can be to create space when life is loud, busy, and full of distractions.
    • why we often avoid stillness, and
    • how constant "doing stuff” can keep us stuck.

They also explore how their definition of success has shifted from external markers and expectations to something more aligned with their own reality and how they want life to feel.

This episode is for you if:

    • You like a good story
    • You feel like your life needs a fresh approach and
    • You know you’re distracting yourself from making change and/or
    • Want to redefine how success looks and feels in your life

    Key take aways…

    ✨ Transition takes time.

✨ You don’t need all the answers.

✨ You need to create space.
