About this listen

The Collective’s eyes are still watching Minneapolis. Sho, Darryl, Ian, and Tryce open this episode with a discussion of rage and anger. They encourage us to filter out corrosive emotions that lead to sin, but make a case that Christians can express a righteous indignation in response to injustice. This leads to a discussion of the Cities Church protest. The Collective debates whether churches should be exempt as sites of protest, drawing on history as well as their own experiences as church leaders. They also discuss why Christians response to protests matters, and share their perspectives on the varying responses to the church protest two weekends ago. They end the episode by sharing their reflections on the most recent fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, the role of apathy and ignorance to the experiences of marginalized groups, and whether the events in Minneapolis will be a wake up call to the nation or “business as usual.”
