A woman named Elise inherits a modest farmhouse on Sycamore Lane, deep in the hills of eastern Kentucky, and finds in the attic a hand-mirror wrapped in yellowed linen. Elise begins to see her in the corners of rooms, in the gap between curtain and wall, in the half-light before dawn.
