• # 176 Do You Struggle with Forgiving Others? 10 Reasons Why Forgiveness is Important to You and Those You Love.
    Jun 18 2026

    ⭐️ 10 Reasons to Forgive

Forgiveness is choosing to love someone who has hurt you, whether intentionally or unintentionally. It is not easy but can get easier over the years as you realize how important it is, and you experience a sense of freedom on the other side of each situation that warrants forgiveness. Forgiveness is not confirming or agreeing with the offense that has been done to you. And, it doesn’t mean that you have to continue to be in a close relationship with someone who has hurt you. But, it also doesn’t mean that you can’t. When asked what advice I would give new married couples, I always say, be ready and willing to forgive.

*Today, I will share 10 reasons why forgiveness is so impotent and why, as Catholics, Christians and children of God, we are called to forgive: 1. Freedom from the pain, 2. Increased Energy, 3. Positive thoughts, words and actions, 4. Increased ability to ask others for forgiveness, 5. Ability to free another to discover the truth, 6. As Christians, We are called to forgive , 7. It frees us from control of the enemy, 8. It is an important form of self-care, 9. It encourages us to dig deeper- Spiritual Maturity, 10. It has a positive effect on others connected and involved.

  • # 173 What does it mean to be "Called by The Spirit?" 5 Ways to Ask, Receive and Live Out God's Call on Your Life
    Jun 9 2026

    ⭐️ Today's Topic

Inside today's episode of The Joy of Transformation, Cathy Jo addresses a question that many ask about why Catholics and other Christians say, "I was led by the Holy Spirit", or "I felt called". It might sound a little odd or even out-there. But, it is a very real and transformative experience for those interested and open to receive.

If we believe that God is our Lord and Savior, and that the Holy Spirit was sent to be with us as our advocate and Helper after Jesus rose into heaven? Then why would we be surprised to accept the idea that the Holy Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, has the ability to communicate directly to us and through us on a regular basis?

Cathy Jo shares 5 things to remember and/ or practice so you can feel closer and more spiritually in tune: 1. Not my will but yours be done. 2. get in touch with your authentic self. 3. Acknowledge that you were created by God. 4. Get to know Father, Son and Holy Spirit 5. Be open and willing to communication with and through the Holy Spirit.

    Cathy Jo recommends the book:

*Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach

*Bible Studies by Walking With Purpose.

*The Bible in a Year Podcast by Father Mike Schmitz.

  • # 171 What is Transformation? And, How are we Transformed in Christ? Meet Father Michael Sliney as we talk all things Transformation.
    Jun 2 2026

⭐️ Today's Guest: father Michael Sliney

Father Mike Sliney spent over 26 years of priestly ministry serving youth and families. He started The Leadership Training Program in the greater DC area in 1997, with the focus on forming men and women of both character and a deep Faith.

He was the regional coordinator for over 20 youth programs, ranging from elementary school to high school and college; culminating in a vibrant group of young professionals. Over 2,500 boys and girls have benefited from these youth programs. My pastoral experience with these youth included outreach to the homeless, supporting the needs of the local Boys and Girls Clubs and annual national mission trips to an Indian reservation in Montana and St. Michael's special needs school in New Orleans, as well international mission trips to Mexico, El Salvador, and Colombia to help impoverished rural communities. I have also coordinated several ecumenical youth groups both in DC and recently in Greenwich, CT., trying to bridge the religious gap, with the common goal of living virtue and giving back to the under privileged. I also served as the Chaplain for Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg, Va.

My last twenty years of ministry have been as the Chaplain for the Lumen Institute. My spiritual coaching is centered around helping the members find that proper balance to make space for God, family and outreach within the busyness of their daily lives.

I have transitioned from Lumen chaplain in Manhattan to Lumen Chaplain in Washington, DC on June 1, 2019.

I also began as guest host of "Vigilant Heart" on Radio Maria on the 3rd Monday of each month from 7-8 pm et.

He is also active on social media and has written regularly for various media outlets such as Lifezette.

On the side, he is an avid marathon runner (having qualified and finished the Boston Marathon in 2022 & 2024) and enjoy playing golf.

Father's seminary studies include a BS, License focused in Philosophy, Theology from St. Thomas Aquinas, Regina Apostolorum, Rome.
