    Chad shares powerful reflections from his time mentoring young blind gamers at Signal Centers’ summer camp in Tennessee, including the joy of helping young people discover accessible games that give them confidence, agency and independence. Simon also reflects on bringing Games for Blind Gamers titles to the Big Health Day in Gloucestershire and seeing first-hand how inclusive play can create genuine moments of connection.


    The conversation then moves from accessible gaming toaccessible live music, as Simon talks about his trip to Download Festival and praises the festival’s commitment to inclusion, from accessible viewing platforms and BSL interpretation to sensory support and a community atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to belong.

    A web developer, accessibility advocate, and computer music graduate, Shiftbacktick creates games that blend technical innovation with inclusive design. Their work focuses on real-time synthesis and procedural generation to build rich interactive audio experiences, powered by their own spatial sound and synthesis library, syngen. After taking first place in the community vote at last year’s Games For Blind Gamers jam, they return this year with The Omega Reach, another imaginative and universally accessible game world for players to explore.

  • Unsyted Radio: GFBG Pt3 - Toasty

    For pt 3 Chad speaks to Jesse who is a Software Engineer based in Massachusetts. Outside of work, Jesse contributes to Web Standards work, and small web projects. For the past three game jams Jesse has worked on three separate games as well as accessibility libraries and templates to enable frameworks like PICO-8 and Love2d to be screen-reader friendly.


    The past projects include Lunch Gambit (Games for Blind Gamers 3), and LadyBud Roll (Games for Blind Gamers 4). And this year for Games For Blind Gamers 5, Jesse created the wonderful game Toasty.
