It's the last week of September 1998 in the diner off Route 9 outside Dumont, Pennsylvania. The leaves are turning but it's still too warm for a jacket. A man walks in at quarter to two in the morning, wearing a brown suit that's too heavy for the weather, and he sits at the counter. He orders coffee and hash browns — no eggs, no toast — and he asks me if I know what it feels like to be erased. Not forgotten, he says. Erased. And then he tells me about the town of Jericho, Missouri, where the road signs never point to it and the mail gets returned from the 1950s. I've been a waitress for seventeen years. I've heard a lot of stories at this counter. But this one came with a photograph he pulled from his breast pocket — a street corner with no people, no cars, just the empty storefronts of a town that said it had never existed. And then I saw my own face in the reflection of the diner window, standing on that street corner, wearing a dress I have never owned. #HorrorPodcast #FexingoHorror #LastCallAtTheDiner #Route9 #DumontPennsylvania #JerichoMissouri #TheManInTheBrownSuit #CoffeeAndHashBrowns #TheUnremembered #PhotographFromNowhere #WaitressStories #DinerHorror #3AM #September1998 #TheFamiliarFace #SmallTownHorror #LunaReads #AnthologyHorror Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
