  • 130: West Coast Conference Commissioner Stu Jackson
    Jul 1 2026
One year from now, a new era begins for UC San Diego as the Tritons join the West Coast Conference. On episode 130 of Tritoncast, we sit down with WCC Commissioner Stu Jackson. We’ll get into the Tritons’ move to the WCC on July 1, 2027 and why UC San Diego was such a perfect fit for the conference. We'll chat about how his role has evolved with so much change in college athletics in recent years and get his thoughts on the NCAA Tournament expansion to 76 teams. We’ll also explore his time at the Big East and working for David Stern at the NBA, and what it was like starting an NBA franchise north of the border in Vancouver. Stu also reflects on an all-star staff he assembled for a March Madness run when he was head coach at Wisconsin.

As always, host Jeff Tourial takes us around campus for the latest in Triton Athletics. Check out the feature on recent grade Sophia Bell and her love for open water swimming; 14 from baseball are playing in summer leagues; and the 2026-27 men's and women's basketball rosters are now on UCSDTritons.com.
