  • The Man Who Stole Identities : Episode 508
    May 11 2026

A crime with no victims, just the faceless banks. Or is that ever really the case?

Elliot Castro was one of the most prolific fraudsters in the UK, starting from a very early age where he stole identities and credit card details to fund a life of luxury across the world. From five-star hotels to designer shopping sprees, Castro lived under countless false identities while staying one step ahead of authorities for years. But behind the glamour was a deeply compulsive double life built on deception, manipulation and fraud.

In this episode, I look at how Elliot Castro became one of the UK’s most notorious conmen - and how his extraordinary criminal career finally came crashing down.

Living in the UK myself and being fascinated by true crime, this is exactly the podcast I need to hear about it. Well done guys!

Brilliant show!

I'm new to this podcast and pleasantly surprised. As many "fans" of the genre - I'm not sure if fans is the right word - I find true crime fascinating, I detest the "exciting" delivery style on many a Netflix documentary that glamourises the crime and/or perpetrator.

In contrast, this podcast looks at at the details of the crimes covered in a much more measured tone and Adam always takes time to remind the listener of the victims and their loved ones.

He praises and admonishes the police as appropriate to the specific case. This is unusual as many I have heard will make excellent police work sound surprising.

I love the musical and historical context given at the start of each episode.

The advertisements were a bit of a shock as I usually listen to audiobooks and podcasts without them but I'm steadily working my way through them so it can't be that off-putting!

I first came across this podcast on Spotify which was great for me but finding it here just makes me want to listen to every episode again!
I highly recommend if you are interested in true crime but prefer a short summary of cases, most episodes are 20 ish minutes so they're great for snapshots of events. Very easy listen!

A brilliant addition to my week
