This week’s Q&A covers some of the most relatable health questions. We talk about how to approach a partner’s diet when you’re worried but not being heard, what to prioritise in a teenage pescatarian diet, and why stress habits like chewing gum can be so hard to shift. We also unpack the banana and berry smoothie myth, share simple ways to support insulin resistance, and explore what actually helps when recovering from burnout, plus whether ginger shots are worth it. Recommendations: The Morning Show on Apple TV Warm salads in summer Meditating with music. Rhi recommends Howard Shore and John Barry. From listener Bryony: 1-2-3 Pancakes - 1 banana (mashed), 2 eggs, 3 tablespoons oats. Super easy, mixed together and fried. Listener Kate says, 'don't pull up dandelions' as they provide food for insects and keep our environment healthy. • Britain’s Health SOS, Stress & The Cortisol Craze
    May 11 2026
This week we unpack a sobering picture of the UK’s health, with new data showing we’re living fewer years in good health and falling behind much of the developed world. We revisit school food standards and how countries like France and Japan are approaching nutrition in a completely different way, before diving into what’s really driving the UK’s decline, from diet to wider lifestyle patterns. We also break down the new “smoke-free generation” bill, rising costs for vaping, and what prevention actually looks like in practice. And finally, we explore the cortisol conversation taking over social media, and what genuinely helps when it comes to managing stress in a realistic, sustainable way. I started listening to this podcast back in May after being a follower of the Deliciously Ella brand for years, and binged every episode until I caught up recently. I'm now sad that I can't listen every time I go in the car or on a dog walk because I have to wait for each week's worth to come through, but it's worth it.

Listening to Ella and Rhiannon feels like you're with friends having a good old catch up.
The podcast is really relaxed and easy on the ears, but at the same time you get to learn how to look after your health with everything being backed by science.

It reaffirms that the simple things in life can lead us on along the most healthy pathway, I've gone to back to basics and nourishing myself with wholefoods again after a stint of 'protein is everything'. I feel liberated and the Wellness Scoop has definitely contributed to that. Thank you ladies, keep it coming.

Life changing Podcast

There are so many great things about this new format podcast with Ella and her good friend - however, I get distracted and irritated by their vocal fries - such a shame. Anyone under 30 will probably deal with it or not even notice it. I have to listen to it on my own or volume turned down when I’m with my family as they mock the vocal fries. . However, the content is great and well worth listening too. They are both enthusiastic, relaxed, informative, modest, highly educated in nutrition and wellness and experienced in this field, so even if you know a lot on this subject, it is still good listening.

Different, informative, chatty

It really is about time that we had a podcast that allows people to feel normal. It’s a real theme through this first episode about how social media can make you feel really inferior and I totally see that, so hearing women say ‘it’s not real!!’ is so refreshing.
We all have our own stuff to deal with so trying to navigate around health, diet, social interactions and work can be tricky and I felt truly empowered and energised after listening. I also learnt something that’s always worried me regards calories and how our body uses or doesn’t use them, so a massive ‘thank you’ for making this easy to listen to, enjoyable and informative.

Thank goodness!
