After graduating from the police academy in 2012, he began his career at Harbourside LAC. Ben moved into plain clothes proactive policing early, working undercover operations across Kings Cross and Oxford Street, and later leading drug dog operations at major festivals. Returning to uniform, he spent years on the frontline attending critical incidents—domestics, suicides, fatal accidents, armed offenders, and large-scale public disorder.

His career included secondments to specialist units like the Redfern Region Enforcement Squad and the Criminal Groups Squad within State Crime Command, contributing to major drug investigations and covert operations including police band!

On today's Zero Limits Podcast host Matty Morris chats with Jacob Vella NSW Police Officer Stabbed in 2019 - Fitness Coach

Born and raised in Sydney’s southwest, he joined the NSW Police Force in 2016, building a career in frontline and proactive crime units tackling high-risk offenders and organised activity.

In June 2019, during an early morning arrest operation, he was critically injured in a violent stabbing while pursuing a suspect inside a darkened home. The attack left him with life-threatening injuries, extensive nerve and tendon damage, and a long road to recovery—at one point, his survival was in doubt.

After more than a year of rehabilitation, he returned to full operational policing, resuming duties in the same high-pressure environment where he had been injured.

Following years of service marked by frontline exposure, legal battles, and personal challenges, he stepped away from policing in 2024. Since then, he has focused on rebuilding—transitioning into business, property development, and the fitness industry.

On the next episode of the Zero Limits Podcast, host Matty Morris chats with Mick Albrecht — former Infantry and Intelligence soldier turned comedian.

Mick served in the Australian Army for 11 years. He began his military career as a reservist with 25/49 Royal Queensland Regiment in Brisbane before transferring to full-time service. He later served as a paratrooper with the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, deploying to the Solomon Islands.

Mick then transferred to the Intelligence Corps, where he deployed to Timor and later completed two deployments to Afghanistan as part of the Special Operations Task Group, supporting combat operations conducted by the SASR and the 2nd Commando Regiment.

In recent years, Mick has turned to comedy and now regularly features at stand-up comedy events. He has also teamed up with Kara Robinson as co-producer of Shellshocked Comedy Australia
