LA PATA DE MONO es un relato breve de terror escrito por W. W. Jacobs, en 1902. En esta historia, la pata de un mono muerto es un talismán que cumple a quien la posea tres deseos, pero los deseos vienen con un enorme precio. El cuento se basa en cuentos tradicionales en los que, de cualquier manera que se pidan los deseos, siempre se cumplen tres.

Sir Rabindranath Tagore nació en Calcuta, India, el 7 de mayo de 1861. Fue un poeta bengalí, filósofo, artista, dramaturgo, músico, novelista y autor de canciones que fue premiado con el Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1913, convirtiéndose en el primer hindú laureado con este reconocimiento. La poesía domina la reputación literaria de Tagore, pero también escribió novelas, ensayos, historias cortas, diarios de viaje y teatro. Se le atribuye la introducción de este género en la literatura bengalí. Murió en Santiniketan, India, el 7 de agosto de 1941.
