Grimms’ Fairy Tales was first published in Germany in 1812 as Kinder und Hausmärchen. This series of recordings is based on the original 1823 English translation by Edgar Taylor, with subsequent editing by Marian Edwardes.

It tells the story of a little tailor who kills seven flies at once and imagines himself to be a hero. As a result, thanks to his quick wits, he emerges victorious from any danger and marries the princess, receiving half a kingdom in addition.
