According to the Journal of Marketing Research, “Airbnb has served more than 50 million guests since it was founded in 2008 and has a market capitalization eclipsing $30 billion”. Furthermore, Fortune's website states that Airbnb profits will top $3 billion by 2020. And, finally, eMarketer suggests that Airbnb will continue to grow US users through 2019 and that 36.8 million adults in the United States will use Airbnb this year, an increase of 21.2 percent over 2016.
