Somehow, I’m still alive. So are the gruff, dangerous men I’ve found myself strangely at home with. The Steel Demons escaped execution only to find they’ve been betrayed by one of their own. Once an unbreakable brotherhood, tension and distrust grows between them.

The war is over. Finally, we can breathe and be a family. With the worst moments of our lives behind us, we have only the future to look forward to. Our twins arrived nearly four years after the Sha was defeated, and now we face a new challenge—parenthood. A tattooed sword swallower with an affinity for fire has gotten me all fired up. Connor not only doesn’t mind, but he’s encouraging the sparks to fly. My heart’s being pulled in multiple directions and somehow it actually feels right.

We’re on the run. Forced to abandon our home to escape an enemy who always seems one step ahead. The Steel Demons lost a brother, and Reaper is determined not to lose anyone else. Tensions are high while the club wanders the desert in search of a new home. A prospect makes lofty demands. A husband’s jealousy hits a boiling point. But pleasant surprises are also among us. Shadow is emerging from his shell, and the man shining through the scarred exterior is one I’m helpless to resist.

The gods work in mysterious ways.
