Ich träume schon mein ganzes Leben davon, mich endlich in eine Wölfin zu verwandeln. Wie jedes Mitglied meines Rudels muss ich dazu ein Ritual vollziehen. Doch ein brutaler Angriff auf mich lässt dieses Ritual völlig aus dem Ruder laufen: Die Verbindung geht schief, und anstatt meine Wölfin zu kontrollieren, kontrolliert sie mich. I’ve spent my whole life seeing monsters, but they could never see me back...until now. Turns out, I’m not crazy like I’ve spent my whole life believing. Too bad it took being locked in a cage and tortured almost to the point of insanity to realize that. But I’m not alone. In a cage to my left, there’s a monster who’s given up hope. He stays in the shadows and moves with chains wrapped around him, but his golden eyes watch. To my right, there’s a girl with purple wings and familiar gray eyes.

We were Army Rangers, the best of the best. And then one day, everything that we worked so hard to become was ripped away. Now, we're in some podunk town, trying to find a sense of normal among the crazy, and learn how to live again. That gets a hell of a lot harder to do when a virus spreads mercilessly across the country, killing 85 percent of the people who contract it. In the midst of the panic, we're tasked with one last rescue mission. It's just our luck that the fool we're rescuing doesn't believe that the world as we know it is actually ending.
