The Fundamentals A Testimony To The Truth, commonly known as The Fundamentals, is a compelling collection of ninety essays published between 1910 and 1915 by the Testimony Publishing Company of Chicago. Designed to present a fresh statement on the core principles of Christianity, this influential work arose from concerns over certain theological shifts associated with liberal Christianity, particularly biblical higher criticism. It is widely recognized as the cornerstone of modern Christian fundamentalism. Authored by sixty-four prominent writers from various major Protestant denominations, ...

Murder comes in two familiar forms. Whether as a crime of passion with high emotions or a cold dispassionate plot to take life in order to gain in some way, the act strikes us all as somehow inhuman. Beneath us as civilised beings. But however we cloak our animal instincts the need to remove a human being and gain relief from abuse or gain from money, the term is just the same – MURDER. Robert Louis Stevenson, Arthur Conan Doyle, J M Barrie, W W Jacobs and many others bring their literary heft to bear in as calculating a way as any killer could.

It wasn’t just a robbery—it was an engineering marvel disguised as a crime. In August 2005, a crew of thieves in Fortaleza, Brazil, pulled off one of the largest bank heists in history. By digging a tunnel stretching nearly 80 meters beneath the city, they reached the Banco Central’s vault and made off with almost $70 million in unmarked bills. No alarms. No violence. Just silence, dirt, and methodical brilliance.

There were no mission limits for a pilot in the Pacific during World War II; unlike in Europe, you flew until it was time to go home. So it was for James "Jug" Curran, all the way from New Guinea to the Philippines with the 348th Fighter Group, the first P-47 Thunderbolt outfit in the Pacific. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Curran volunteered to try flying in the blue yonder and trained as an Army fighter pilot. He got his wish to fly the P-47 in the Pacific, going into combat in August 1943, in New Guinea, and later helping start the "Black Rams" fighter squadron.

The story of Jacob gives me hope. Jacob is no less than a rogue. If Jacob were alive in the 21st century, he would be one of those ruthless entrepreneurs who would take advantage of their staff and pay them a pittance. He would outwit his competitors and pull every trick in the book. Jacob would be the JR Ewing. Why does Jacob give me hope? Quite simply, if God can love, choose, and accept a character like Jacob, then he will accept me, who has failed him continually for the past 60 years.
