Colorado’s winter storms might rattle the windows, but the heavenly scents of zucchini bread and a crackling fire warms the Cozy Corgi Bookshop and Bakery. Between chapters of a favorite novel and the caffeinated joy of dirty chais, Winifred Page considers new literary challenges as her faithful corgi sidekick, Watson—who has no such ambitions—naps contentedly, after lots of love in the form of treats, of course.

The Cozy Corgi bakery is under renovation, and while Winifred Page loves that her best friend, Katie, is getting her dream bakery, the noise and chaos—not to mention the lack of dirty chai—is making more than her corgi sidekick, Watson, grumpy. To afford the renovations, Katie has agreed to make the scandals of her childhood into a documentary. While she expected the project to be emotionally draining, the obnoxious producer combined with constant clashes between the interior designer and construction crew brings the tension to a breaking point.

Summer is on its way, and so is Winifred Page's birthday. While her corgi, Watson, naps in the sunshine and dreams of delicious pastry crumbs at the Cozy Corgi Bookshop and Bakery, Leo—Fred's park ranger boyfriend—plans a surprise each night to extend the celebration. During an evening picnic in the mountains, Fred and Leo glance up at the soft pink glow of the sky . . . just in time to witness a murder. As Fred and Watson slip into sleuth mode, along with their personal park ranger guide, the spiraling trails and twists and turns of the case prove daunting.

Untangling relationships wrapped in secrets and lies is anything but a simple sashay down a runway. But Fred and Watson are determined to fashion the truth from the scraps they uncover to ensure justice and to return their cozy town to silent nights and white Christmas dreams for the holidays.

The final hurrah of the summer tourist season coincides with Estes Park's commemoration of the Big Thompson Canyon flood and the results of the contentious town council election. As the warm evening gathering for somber remembrance wraps up with dramatic election announcements, the surprises involve shouts of anger . . . and murder. Following a trail of blackmail, Winifred Page discovers a crime with more twists and turns than the Cozy Corgi Bookshop's mystery room can handle.

Still aglow from their winter holiday wedding, Winifred and Leo return from their honeymoon to the warmth of their cozy Colorado mountain town of Estes Park. The honeymoon bliss comes to a screeching halt on a stormy night as a fatal car crash takes the life of a newcomer in town...and leaves Fred to comfort an adorable puppy. But while Fred and Leo fall for the new bundle of hyperactive fluff, Watson expresses mixed emotions about his new role as big brother.
