After the defeat of the evil Antaere in the first REV series, Zac and his super warriors carry on, as the hammer used against a myriad of obstinate races. The Union of Affiliated Systems (Earth's new stellar empire) is determined to expand far beyond the Grid, using the REVs as the means of convincing reluctant species to join. After all, its for their own good. Membership in the UAS will benefit all. So what if a little blood has to be spilled in the meantime? Zac didn't want command of the REV force in the first place, and now he's put in an impossible situation.

In a continuation of the events begun in Raiders of the Shadow, Adam Cain and Copernicus Smith face off against an old enemy . . . in fact, several old enemies. The Klin have returned, as have the Second Generation Humans from the early days of The Human Chronicles. Their old foe is back at it again, but this time teamed up with the deadly weapons manufacturer Xan-fi, on another galaxy-conquering quest. But this time, they won't be denied.

Adam Cain is back as the head of Cain's Crusaders, a small band of super-secret agents working for the head of the galactic Expansion, doing the dirty jobs no one else wants to do. Adam's latest mission is to rescue Arieel Bol, an important religious figure from the planet Formil, who just happens to have supernatural powers, or so it seems. And to top that, she's also is the most beautiful alien in the galaxy. Yet when a 30-million-credit bounty is placed on their heads, Adam and Arieel will have to use all of their combined "powers" to survive.

With the Milky Way galaxy engaged in a life-or-death struggle against the evil Sol-Kor Colony, Adam Cain and Riyad Tarazi are given the chance to end the war once and for all: Travel into another universe and assassinate the queen of the Sol-Kor. If their mission succeeds, it could end the war with a single stroke, saving trillions upon trillions of innocent creatures from the ravenous, flesh-eating invaders. If not... 

As all the great forces in the galaxy gather for one final, epic battle to determine who will rule the Milky Way, massive star fleets from the Juireans and the Humans converge on ground zero - the Kracori homeworld of Elision. Against such overwhelming firepower, it's a given that Elision will be destroyed - unless the Kracori and their reluctant allies, the Klin, can mount a surprise end-around defense of the planet. At stake in this galactic free-for-all is nothing less than the survival of the all the species involved. Fail...and your race dies as well. 

It was supposed to be a peace conference, designed to bring the galaxy back down from the brink of war. But why they picked Capt. Cain's Bar & Grill as the location of the high-level talks is anyone's guess. And now a deadly conspiracy reveals itself, leaving Adam, along with the other Humans on Liave-3, running for their lives, accused of a political assassination they didn't commit. Now a desperate race is underway to find the alien assassin so they can clear their names and bring the real leaders of the conspiracy to justice. Can they do it? Really? You have to ask.

With the clock ticking to total destruction of the universe, Adam Cain and Company race to find the imprisoned Last Aris, an insane creature they've run into before: Kracion! He's the key to saving . . . everything. But will he help? Will he care if the universe dies? And in the meantime, the evil Te'moc is still on the warpath, seeking to assimilate both Summer Rains and the super-mutant Panur—who's a little preoccupied at the time. And to top it all off, the Sol-Kor have reached the point of no return in their search for their missing Queen-J'nae.

REVs have been exiled from Earth, with the remaining few treated like criminals and required to wear armbands and tattoos, harkening back to another tragic time in the history of mankind. Zac Murphy and his REVs now live on the planet Crious, building a new homeworld of their own . . . if the humans will leave them alone. But now the evil Seken race is heading for Earth, determined to destroy the planet as part of their black-and-white practice of war. Either you destroy them, or they will destroy you. There is no compromise, no surrender, no negotiated peace.

Once again Adam, Riyad, and Sherri find themselves neck-deep in an epic struggle to save the Milky Way from an evil that doesn't play favorites. And uniting against the invaders are the Humans, the Juireans, and even the Klin...to show just how serious the threat has become. 

Adam Cain has pursued his nemesis Nigel McCarthy to the Milky Way's sister galaxy - The Large Magellanic Cloud - using the revolutionary technology of the concentrated-array gravity-drive. This is virgin territory for the Humans - an entire galaxy that knows nothing of the special abilities of the people from Earth.

Adam did what he had to do to save his friend Tidus, but in doing so, his secret leaked out.
