Between the Monday after Abraham Lincoln was shot until the following week, Tom Jones hid John Wilkes Booth in the wilds of Maryland and then helped him get across the Potomac River to Virginia.

Thomas, better known as "Uncle Tom", reflects on his youth as the servant of a storekeeper. Tom's boyish spirit is confronted with a number of disappointments; however, he never loses sight of his goal to be free. The Adventures of Uncle Tom detail the nature of a young man full of wit, character and resourcefulness to out "fox" his ill-tempered master.

Here is the famous Beowulf story, retold for the young-adult listener. Like the original Anglo-Saxon manuscript, it is divided into three parts. The first section narrates Beowulf's battle against Grendel. The second section tells of the furious revenge of Grendel's mother. The third section shows the great hero in his declining years as he battles an aging dragon, who now flies slowly and awkwardly, but can still shoot down enough fire to imperil the Geats kingdom.
