Business as usual down at Dracs funeral home - so they say. But there was one thing wrong with this picture: Dracs funeral home hasn't been in operation since old man Wethers' funeral home was shut down because a brand new funeral home was built across the street from Dracs....

There stood atop a desolated hilltop, a funeral parlor by the name of Sunny Hills Funeral Parlor, with some terrifying tales from the dead. Jeramiah Hill, the owner of Sunny Hills Funeral Parlor, would invite some of his closest friends in town to come and hear how people that were brought to his funeral parlor died. Sunny Hills Funeral Parlor was built in 1816 by the Hills family. Soon after construction was complete on the funeral parlor bad things started happening. One of the Hill's brothers got into a fight with the other brother.

Most Americans celebrate Halloween as entertainment. They go to haunted houses, put on by mortals to scare them, and trick or treat in their neighborhoods. They even have Halloween parties in their homes, but Count Drac Von Stoller's family celebrates Halloween like mortals do on Christmas day.

Sarah used to take a short cut home after school through a railroad tunnel. Unfortunately, on October 31, 1902, Sarah never made it home. Her mangled body was discovered on the railroad tracks the next morning in the tunnel where she walked home from school every day.

I knew this day would come but I didn't think it would be so soon. I peered through the curtains of my bedroom window listening to the howling wind and watched as the lightning lit up the sky. My heart was beating like a bass drum. Something about this night was like no other night I have ever experienced that overwhelmed me with great fear of the unknown. Then I noticed in the distance a carriage barreling down the castle road at such a great speed. The closer the carriage got to the castle the more my fear grew.

Johnny was Gravendale's grave digger and embalmer who loved his job, especially picking a special spot that he thought the deceased would be proud to be buried at. Johnny was a little weird because during the embalming process, he would sit beside the cold slab the body was lying on, and as he was inserting the hose into the deceased body to drain their blood, he would read stories to them and talk to them as though they were still alive.

An oil painting "The Golden Patio" hangs in a stairway of Peter Romsey's grandmother's home. Peter is named after his grandfather a nefarious philandering sea captain who died rather mysteriously in Spain. The painting is the only portion of his grandfather's effects his grandmother puts on display, and it has been relegated to a dark corner in a stairway. Peter as a child was fascinated with the painting and fantasized about the scene. As an adult, he is still fascinated with the painting that has hung in his office since his grandmother's death.

Published in June of 1932 in "Strange Tales" a pulp magazine of the era, "The House in the Magnolias" by August W. Derlith & Mark Shorer, now an audiobook narrated by Mike Vendetti will thrill and chill you. The story takes place on a plantation outside of New Orleans where Voodooism and Sorcery are suspected.

Mr. Tremaine was a one-hit wonder, not to be heard from again. The key character of this tale, Mr. Nekkan, is an interesting study and may bring to mind a recent resident of our Whitehouse. Nekkan would likely be diagnosed as a narcissist, with an intense desire to get even with his perceived enemies and the town of Kwaliz.

The Door of Doom, a ghost story by Hugh B. Cave, appeared in "Strange Tales of Mystery and Terror" in January 1932. Four friends, known as the "deathless four", are sole survivors of a squadron of the R. F. C. during World War, and meet annually to remember those who did not come back.

In true Lovecraftian fashion a man's wife thought to be dead is entombed in the family crypt. The husband has an uneasy feeling, so he enters the tomb and finds the lid torn off the coffin. His wife is alive but in a state of delirium and shock. He sees a naked creature scurrying off through the inner vaults on all four semi-human limbs.

William Hope Hodgson wrote "The Terror of the Water-Tank" in 1907 and the story has been published in several pulp magazines since then. Mike Vendetti has taken this story and turned it into an engrossing audiobook. The story takes place in England where crowning the heights on the outskirts of a certain town on the east coast is a large, iron water-tank from which an isolated row of small villas obtains its supply. The top of this tank has been cemented, and around it have been placed railings, thus making it a splendid "look-out" for townspeople who may choose to promenade upon it.
