Sabers are rattling and the economy is tanking in 1937 when Walter, a young struggling farmer in Colorado meets Margaret, an independent and salaried woman shortly before she returns to teach English in North Dakota. Aside from a brief visit, the courtship between these blossoming soulmates resides entirely in these letters. The letters are filled with expectations and spiritual understandings colored by brief reflections on how such things played out in their lives and the life of the editor and collator.
