As Christmas approaches, French Bulldog Smudge and baker Melody are looking forward to a break. That is until they find a body, and one of their friends is the prime suspect. Melody is busy preparing Christmas orders and notices that her friend Carole Archer has put in a huge order. Carole lets her know that she is due a big Christmas bonus from her boss and has decided to celebrate.

Melody and French Bulldog Smudge are concerned when their Friend Kerry Porter announces she will attend the winter ball with a businessman who has been a little free with the ladies. Bradford Smedley is a womanizer, so it is no surprise when an old flame interrupts the ball with pictures of them together. Poor Kerry is devastated and rushes out in tears. Hannah attends a sweet sixteen birthday party to support her friend Colin who is catering the event. She knows how stressed Colin is because of the birthday girl's bickering parents. Alexandra and Jeff Decker are divorced and are more involved with showing off their new partners than caring for their daughter. An intense scuffle leads to threats and fisticuffs which ends the party. A short while later Hannah and Mazie discover the dead body of Alexandra Decker. The case seems cut and dried but soon she discovers there’s much more at play.
