Theo versucht weiter, das Rätsel des Pyramidions zu lösen, während Nigella unterrichtet. In der Pause heben Will, Henry und Safiya das Pyramidion an und Theo prüft die Inschrift darunter. Diese ergibt für Theo keinen Sinn und sie holt ein Buch. In der Zwischenzeit bricht die äußere Hülle auseinander und versetzt die drei in einen unruhigen Schlaf.

Theos Gedanken kreisen ständig darum, wie sie Will ihre Gefühle für ihn erklären könnte und sie wirkt etwas abwesend. Henrietta hat ihre eigene Theorie für Theos verändertes Verhalten. Sie glaubt, dass es damit zu tun hat, dass beide Eltern diesmal allein zur nächsten Ausgrabung reisen.

Im Spielsalon sollte es gut aufgehoben sein, aber die Anwesenheit des Auges lässt die Automaten verrückt spielen. Will bringt das Auge schließlich doch ins Museum.

Bei dem Versuch, Henry aus der Falle von Yaret zu befreien, geraten plötzlich Will und Safiya zwischen die immer enger werdenden Wände um das Pyramidion - ein Wettlauf mit der Zeit! Im Sockel entdecken sie Vertiefungen, in die Götterstatuen passen, nur welche? Theo muss ihre Pause vom Zaubern beenden und mit vereinter Kraft und einem Zeitzauber können Will und Safiya gerettet werden.

Die Kinder entkommen der Schlange durch ein Kellerloch. Theo kann vorher noch ein Buch mit Zaubersprüchen gegen Flüche an sich bringen. Für die Aktion gibt es allerdings Strafarbeiten. Theo und Henry werden auf ihr Zimmer geschickt und sollen Clive helfen, Uschebtis zu verpacken, die als Leihgabe ans Britische Museum gehen sollen.
