Pope John Paul I (born Albino Luciani) lived from Oct. 17, 1912 to Sept 28, 1978. He reigned as Pope from August 26, 1978 to his unexpected death 33 days later. He was the first pope to have been born in the 20th century. His reign is among the shortest in papal history. This speech is delivered in Latin.
