Wie ein Wirbelwind landet das magische Baumhaus im alten Pompeji. Dort treffen Philipp und Anne auf eine alte Wahrsagerin, die nur in Rätseln spricht. Was sich hinter ihren geheimnisvollen Worten verbirgt, bekommen die Geschwister schon bald am eigenen Leibe zu spüren: Denn im Schatten des Vulkans befinden sie sich auf sehr wackligem Boden.

Doch dann bricht in der Stadt ein Feuer aus, und sie geraten in schreckliche Gefahr. Nur der Wolkendrache könnte sie jetzt noch retten! Aber dazu müssen sie ihn erst einmal finden.

Das Baumhaus bringt Anne und Philipp in die prunkvolle Zeit des 18. Jahrhunderts. Im Sommerschloss der Erzherzogin von Österreich sollen sie einen begabten Künstler finden. Doch kaum angekommen, müssen sie sich erst einmal an die seltsame Kleidung, Perücken und das viele Puder gewöhnen. Und dann strömen plötzlich auch noch unzählige wilde Tiere in den Park und bedrohen einen kleinen Jungen.

Wo ist bloß Anne? Philipp schaut sich suchend um. Ihre Reise mit dem magischen Baumhaus hat gerade erst begonnen, und schon stecken die Geschwister im Schlamassel. Denn sie sind im tiefsten Afrika gelandet. Und bald ahnen Philipp und Anne, auf wen sie im Tal der Löwen treffen werden.
