Paired with the disciplined and reluctant Butler, Wes becomes half of a partnership neither man asked for. Together, the mismatched Rangers are sent to investigate a pirate crew that has become far more advanced and deadly than it should be.

What starts as a routine frontier assignment soon leads them beyond the Empire’s borders and into a threat tied to ancient Old Earth technology no one fully understands. The deeper they dig, the clearer it becomes that the pirates are only the beginning.
