Winland Underwood has been running and hiding most of her life. Today is the day she will stop and stand her ground. The half Light Elf and half Witch has led a band of magical refugees to the Ozarks where they can finally put down roots. But what darkness hides underneath the scenic mountain views? Will the legacy of the Fixer help her out? An ancient mystery starts to unravel threatening their new town, and Winland must find it in herself to stay and fight it out.

A battle is won but the challenges for Winland Underwood and the residents of East Calico Rock have just begun. Can the old Fixer's daughter keep the hidden magicals safe? It's not easy relocating to a ghost town in Arkansas. It's even harder when the city sits on top of a forgotten underground lair. But even that can be handled as long as the town remains a secret. A magical gem is discovered by the teens that can give them everything they desire. That can't be a bad thing, right? For a city that's trying to stay hidden, it can be.

Winland Underwood is trying to hide in plain sight. Not easy for a witch with a storied past. The wards and the crystal are back up and running. The residents of East Calico Rock are protected, and the town is safe once again. What does that mean for Winland Underwood? Next on the to-do list is to look for the Custodian, Hector Fang. And if she finds him, ask about her long-dead mother. Like, is she really dead? What else does he know about the magical history of the town?

Winland Underwood may have met her match. Is Fang a friend or foe? Even his arctic fox is more than she seems, and Winland's getting mixed signals. From everywhere. Now she's one step closer to tracking down the warrior witch, and the good-looking Wizard at her side is only too eager to help. But can the young Light Elf sense the danger creeping toward the wards around her town—from three states away?

Winland Underwood wasn't gone long from East Calico Rock, but a lot has changed. The least of which is the citizens were able to capture the Silver Griffin traitor, Erickson, without her. But more refugees keep arriving, and the town is expanding. Erickson wasn't the only threat to everyone's safety. Can the young witch leave them alone while she searches for her mother? Or will a hidden menace move in while she's gone?

Things are finally looking up for Winland Underwood. East Calico Rock is safe, Erickson and his thugs are behind bars, and Hector Fang is turning out to be exactly what she needed. For the first time in her life, all her training with the Old Fixer may not apply. Until it does . . .

Winland Underwood was right! Her mother is alive, rescued, and returned to the Ozark kemana. The Warrior Witch may be back, but the mother-daughter reunion Winland dreamed of isn't what it's cracked up to be. Especially now that they're both dealing with the fallout.

In East Calico Rock, there's always one more emergency to be handled by Winland Underwood. Unfortunately, this time the emergency is her mother. Just when Winland thought her mom was starting to settle into life in the refugee town, danger strikes once again. This time, Winland and the crimson heart are strong enough together to deal with it themselves. But are the consequences of Winland's new power too much for Leeland to handle?
