Fire and Fang

For generations, magical sky shields have defended the Garden Kingdom from dragons and their savage riders. Now, the shield protecting the capital has been sabotaged, the castle destroyed, and all except the youngest member of the royal family slain. A healer with a love for books, antiques, and avoiding family gatherings, Princess Syla never thought the future of the kingdom would rely upon her—or that assassins would be hunting her down. With only an aged bodyguard with bad knees to protect her, she’s in way over her head.

Scarcely two weeks have passed since Princess Syla bested Captain Vorik and returned home with a magical sky shielder to protect her kingdom. Is the powerful dragon rider holding a grudge? Will his people come after her and try to steal or destroy the shielder? Syla may find out sooner than expected when Vorik shows up in her harbor with his general and chiefs. They claim to be on a diplomatic mission, but she suspects they have treachery in mind.

Falling in love with the enemy is never a good idea, especially when you’re in the middle of a war. After her coronation, Queen Syla Moonmark must lead her people against the stormers and their dragon allies to drive them out of the kingdom. That would be easier if she’d managed to bring home the rare magical components that would allow the rebuilding of the sky shielder that was sabotaged early in the war. Without that protection, keeping dragons away from her people’s islands is impossible.

Queen Syla Moonmark is delighted that she’s won the game of captives, and the dragon rider Vorik—the man she loves—now stands at her side. But her troubles are far from over. A usurper has the throne, assassins are on the hunt, and Syla still has to figure out how to keep the dangerous stormer tribes from taking over the Garden Kingdom.
