Durante el mes de junio de 1816, en el llamado Año sin Verano, en una casa a orillas del lago Lehman conocida como Villa Diodati se juntarán autores de renombre como son Lord Byron, Percy Bhysse Shelley, el joven doctor Polidori, la amante de Shelley, Mary y la hermana de ésta y en ella darán vida a dos grandes novelas de la literatura de terror: Frankenstein" y "El vampiro". La obra es un recorrido de correspondencias entre Mary Shelley y el mayordomo de Lord Byron, Wiliam Fletcher, documentando todo lo que aconteció durante aquel verano.
