About this listen

I’m a beast pacing around my cage waiting for the next fight. It’s all I have, those brief moments of rage and destruction. It’s a sort of freedom. Then I go back into the cold, dark emptiness.

That’s why I don’t speak anymore. What’s the point? I stopped being human a long time ago. I’ve given up on anything but that cycle of violence and isolation—until they throw him into my cage. They expect me to kill him as soon as he gets me through my injuries. That’s what I usually do. People thrown in with me make so much noise with their begging that I have to kill them to shut them up. But Lucas is different. He’s quiet. Lost. He intrigues me.

So I don’t kill him. I claim him instead.

At first, my handlers are happy. They think he makes it easier to manage me. Control the beast by controlling its possession. Beasts are simple like that.

What they don’t realize is that he’s waking up the man I used to be—and that man is a hell of a lot more dangerous than the beast.

Rina Saint in only 3 books has become one of my favourite authors! I have loved them all and this was no exception! She has a way of writing dark emotional pain and forms these beautiful relationships with these wonderful characters that break and mend you. So beautifully written again. Sean Masters and Oscar Reyes were absolutely incredible, I’m more familiar with Sean Masters who is always absolutely amazing and his tone and emotions are just up there but the two worked perfectly together. Lucas, endearing, sweet, hopeful and Roman broken, protective both waiting to be healed. Loved it. As it says Book 1 I can only look forward to the next because of its Rina Saint, I’m buying it. Wonderful X

Another absolutely brilliant one!

Finding myself in a bit of a slump, I knew I had another on Rinas books in my library .. finished in one sitting. I can always rely on Rina to reset my reading

I loved the connection between 'Beast' and Lucas .. life has been kind to either of them. Neither having had live or affection, finding exactly that in each other.
Beast has been held in captivity, his only purpose - to be collared and thrown into an ill3ga1 fight, constantly. The trauma of his never ending situation, making him mute or rather realising that his words carry no value, he stops using his voice .. that is until Lucas is literally forced into his cell.

Never misses the mark!

I really enjoyed Possession this was a five star listen for me. It’s definitely a spicy dark romance, but what stood out was how well it was written. Even with the intensity and heat, it never felt awkward or cringe; everything flowed naturally and stayed immersive.

The narration was a huge highlight. I’ve listened to Sean Masters before and he’s quickly becoming one of my favourite narrators, and this was my first time hearing Oscar Reyes he absolutely held his own and added so much to the experience. Together they really brought the story to life.

Beyond the spice, I found the story strangely beautiful in its own way. It leans into obsession and emotion while still feeling thoughtful and intentional, which made it stick with me after finishing.

Overall, an addictive listen and an easy five stars perfect for readers who enjoy darker romance with strong writing and standout narration.

I was really impressed by how the author really gets you into understanding the relationship when no words are spoken, where trust is built with facial expressions, touches and intimacy. From being held captive to out into the free world how those big changes would affect each of the MMCs and how it can change a relationship.
The narrators did an amazing job and Sean Masters and Oscar Reyes voices worked so well together.
Highly recommend
