Benjamin-Lucas Schmidt Stories as diverse as life itself I write because life writes stories – sometimes loud and dramatic, sometimes quiet and full of surprise. My books reflect this richness: from deeply researched nonfiction to psychologically nuanced crime novels and warm-hearted children’s books. What drives me? A deep curiosity for people and the connections between them – and the need to share my insights through storytelling. I don’t write for a genre. I write for life. And life is many things – but never shallow. A life between cultures Living in different cultures has shaped me profoundly. It taught me how deeply our perspectives shape our thinking – and how valuable openness can be. This mindset continues to shape my work: I observe carefully, ask questions, listen. And then I tell stories. Nonfiction meets fiction, children’s books meet the heart In my nonfiction books, I explore social and psychological dynamics – clearly, thoroughly, and with an eye for detail. These insights often flow into my crime novels, where motives become tangible, decisions palpable, and consequences visible. Suspense is the tool, not the goal. And then there’s a very special source of inspiration: my granddaughter. Through her, I rediscover the world – curious, playful, and full of heartfelt questions.
