Caroline Eden is a writer and literary critic contributing to The Guardian, Times Literary Supplement and Financial Times, among other publications. She is best known for her 'colour trilogy' of illustrated travelogues with recipes, Black Sea (2018), Red Sands (2020) and Green Mountains (2025). Over the years her books have been reviewed and recommended in The New Yorker, New York Times, WSJ, The Guardian, Financial Times, Sunday Times and many other magazines and newspapers. She has also been awarded both the prestigious Art of Eating Prize in the US and the André Simon Award in the UK. Her recent memoir Cold Kitchen: A Year of Culinary Journeys, was "a best summer read" for both the Financial Times and The Observer. Specialising in Central Asia and the Caucasus for the past 15 years, she has recorded stories from Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Russia, Kyrgyzstan Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Haiti and Bangladesh for BBC Radio 4's From Our Own Correspondent and has spoken to audiences about her adventures at the Financial Times Weekend Festival, Royal Geographical Society, Asia House, Stanfords and the Frontline Club.
