Christopher (Chris) Dishman is a respected nonfiction historian celebrated for his engaging narratives on 19th-century American wars. He has published two acclaimed books and is currently working on his debut fiction novel, a political thriller set in the 1990s. Dishman is known for making history both accessible and exciting, and is eager to apply this storytelling approach to his fiction. A Perfect Gibraltar: The Battle for Monterrey, Mexico, explores the U.S. Army’s first major experience with urban warfare, highlighting the lesser-known role of the Texas Rangers in mentoring U.S. Army officers on conducting warfare “block by block.” This work features riveting battle scenes, including a recounting of Mexico’s own “Alamo.” It was included in the esteemed “Campaigns and Commanders” series, and Dishman was invited to discuss its themes at a presentation in Monterrey, Mexico by the American Embassy. Dishman’s second book, Warfare and Logistics Along the U.S.-Canadian Border During the War of 1812, delves into the frontier battles that shaped the lives of notable military figures like Winfield Scott, Oliver Hazard Perry, and Tecumseh. Additionally, he self-published an epilogue to the book that details the Battle of New Orleans, which occurred in 1814-1815. For his forthcoming fiction novel, Dishman draws upon his 30 years of experience in the intelligence community and homeland security to deliver an exhilarating global thriller. Dishman has a PhD from the University of Texas at Dallas and has written numerous articles on terrorism and homeland security. He resides in McKinney, Texas, with his family.
