Dakarai Larriett, a proud Alabama native, is the son of a U.S. Army veteran and a dedicated public school teacher. A graduate of the Alabama School of Fine Arts, he went on to earn his degree in management and economics from the University of Alabama, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dakarai began his career in corporate leadership roles in New York before launching his own pet-care business in 2012. During the pandemic, he returned to Birmingham, embracing full-time entrepreneurship and giving back to his community through work with United Way Meals On Wheels and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. Now a candidate for the United States Senate from Alabama, Dakarai is committed to driving meaningful change in his home state. His debut memoir, Don’t Flush!, shares the story of his wrongful arrest in 2024 and serves as a powerful call to civic engagement and reform. Deeply rooted in Birmingham, Dakarai spends weekends at the shooting range and attends First United Methodist Church. Through his public service and writing, he strives to inspire others to step up, speak out, and help shape a better future.
