David Pearsall is the author of Son of Wake Island: A Son’s Tribute to His Father and the Marine and Civilian Defenders of Wake Island, a deeply personal work inspired by his father’s service as a U.S. Marine during the defense of Wake Island and his subsequent years as a Japanese POW. In 1985 and 1988, David organized two reunion trips back to Wake Island for the Marine and civilian survivors and their families—once-in-a-lifetime journeys that reinforced his dedication to honoring their legacy. His second book, World War II – Honor and Remembrance, broadens that tribute. It is a powerful collection of historical narrative and personal stories from veterans, survivors, and their loved ones. The book not only recounts the major campaigns and turning points of the war, but also gives voice to those whose service and sacrifice shaped history. A 1972 graduate of the University of Minnesota – Duluth, Pearsall earned degrees in Political Science, History, and Geography. With nearly 50 years in the travel industry and journeys to over 75 countries, he brings a global perspective and personal passion to his writing—ensuring that the stories of the Greatest Generation are preserved and shared for generations to come.
