A native of Lorain County, Ohio, George has enjoyed a diverse life. Enlisting in the Marine Corps at 19, he served with the 2nd Battalion - 6th Marine Regiment (infantry) and then Headquarters Battery - 10th Marine Regiment (artillery). After re-enlistment, George served as an electronics maintenance instructor in 29 Palms. His two fun-packed years in the desert were rewarded by a year as the communications equipment maintenance chief for the 9th Marine Regiment (infantry) in Okinawa. A short stint as an equipment specialist with Marine Corps Technical Operations finished his seven years of crushing boredom, interrupted by moments of absolute terror. Not long after leaving active duty, George and his wife settled in suburban Atlanta. Working as a project engineer, then project manager, and then as a program manager, George spent over 40 years working on commercial and government contracts. His experiences in the Marine Corps and then in the 'real world', have provided the memories he draws upon in his storytelling. George has written five series of stories. The eight-story Gordan is an action/thriller series, with the central characters serving as 'troubleshooters' for the President. The five-story Marine series chronicle the life of a Marine before, during and after one of the Corps' watershed battles. The four-story Liam Strange series follows a young Scotsman after he is recruited in university by MI-6 (think James Bond's company). A fourteen-story Detective Rooney series is based upon a fictional policeman in the county George lived in for almost 40 years. Now, the three-story Penrose series is centered on a lone wolf, turned team leader, of a group of special operators working for the West Wing. He also wrote two stories very close to his heart. The Musician is a story about his wife's great-great grandfather, a musician with the 5th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers in the Civil War. The second story is Heavy. George spent months researching the history of his father's ship during World War II. Not large enough to be named, it was designated PC-1176. From pre-enlistment through to the end of his service, Heavy follows Fred Thuemling and his ship from commissioning in Wisconsin to delivery to the mothball fleet in Florida, after serving as a landing craft guide vessel during the invasion of Normandy and then picket duty from France to Germany afterward. The reader will realize that George refrains from overt vulgarity in his writing, chosing instead to focus on the emotions involved. There's some cursing (re: the Marine series) and some extreme violence, but the intent is to entertain without offending the reader. When he’s not writing, George enjoys traveling with Linda, his wife of 54+ years. Other favorites are fishing offshore, three-day trips to Las Vegas, and reading! You can usually find him sitting at his keyboard in the back room of his Jacksonville, NC home. Yep, it’s the other Jacksonville! Think Camp Lejeune.
