Graham Spence is a journalist born in Zimbabwe who grew up in Mozambique and reported across southern Africa during one of its most volatile eras. He covered the low-level civil war in South Africa from inside the newsroom, at a time when fear and resentment ran through every story and every street. He describes it as an intensely interesting and often surreal time to be a journalist. It is also the reason his fiction feels like it was lived, not invented. His Kelly Murdoch and Chris Stone thriller series draws directly from the conflicts, terror networks, and political upheavals he has spent a career observing up close. The Equinox Chase, his latest novel, takes Kelly from the al-Shabaab-controlled coastline of northern Mozambique to the Antifa riots of Seattle and back again. Spence does not research these settings. He knows them. He is also the co-author of The Elephant Whisperer and four other internationally bestselling non-fiction titles. He lives in Berkshire, England.
