James Sills is an award-winning musician, speaker, author and choirstarter whose work explores the power of collective singing to build connection and belonging. For more than two decades, he has brought together tens of thousands of people across the world from choirs to conferences, workshops to workplaces, from festivals to football stadiums. He is currently musical director of Bantam Of The Opera, the acclaimed choir of Bradford City supporters whose journey has been featured by the BBC, with performances including BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Wembley Stadium and for King Charles III. James is the founder of The Sofa Singers, a global online singing community that has brought together people from more than sixty countries since its launch in 2020. In recognition of this work, James received a UK Points of Light Award from the UK government. A familiar voice across UK media, James has appeared on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC One and NBC in the United States, alongside features in national newspapers and a regular column for Psychologies magazine. He is the author of Do Sing: Reclaim Your Voice. Find Your Singing Tribe, described by Cerys Matthews as "an open door to the joyous world of singing." As a speaker and facilitator, James works with organisations including Coca-Cola, Lloyds Banking Group and the NHS, creating powerful shared experiences that to build trust and connection. James lives in North Wales with his young family and is currently writing his second book, due for publication in summer 2027.
