Jieun Baek is an author and scholar focused on authoritarian governance, elite political behavior, information access, and human rights in closed societies. She is the author of North Korea’s Hidden Revolution and Privileged but Powerless, both published by Yale University Press. She is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Indo-Pacific Security Initiative, adjunct faculty at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, and founder of Lumen, an organization dedicated to expanding information access in North Korea. She holds a PhD from Oxford, an MPP and BA from Harvard.
