Jim McGinnis was born and raised in Florida, and is still residing in his hometown of Melbourne. He’s a music-loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, teacher, baseball coach, writer, and dog-whisperer (rumor has it). Along with "Love and Freedom, " McGinnis is the author of "Tending To The Past--Reflections of an American History Teacher." He has also published two other collections of poetry and essays-- "Points South," and "Sabal Palm." His first children's book, "Good Dog Loose," is a collaborative effort with artist and friend, Tamara Fernandez. McGinnis spends much of his time outdoors. He loves kids and dogs, oaks and palms, beaches and boats…and ballparks. He and his wife, Kay, enjoy concerts, gardening, breweries, and road trips— ranging from the mountains of North Carolina to the Florida Keys and many places in between.
