UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES - WALLIS & EDWARD is my first in a series (I hope) of historical fiction novels. The main character is loosely (very loosely) based on a great aunt of mine who was a college professor and traveled the world in the 1930s through 1970s when that kind of thing was simply not done by most single women. Anything admirable about "Elizabeth" is based on fact. Anything less than that is a product of this writer's imagination. The story is a "What If" that attempts to entertain the reader in the blank spaces between the documented facts we know about these two people from history. MY WAR is the non-fiction story of my family's experiences living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during Desert Storm, which later became known as the First Gulf War. My fellow members of the League of Women Voters has selected MY WAR - a Wife's Story for their annual book review in November 2020. This is especially gratifying because this group of women are sisters I have chosen for myself. I am honored to announce MY WAR is being used as a resource for a new work by Captain Al Barnes,'Desert Uniforms, Patches, and Insignia of the U.S. Armed Forces 1975-2012' by Schiffer Publishing LTD of Atglen, Pennsylvania. MY WAR has recently been added to the History Section of the library at Reinhardt State University in Waleska, Georgia. LORD LORD, MY WAR, and TAKE THIS MAN are included in the Henry Grady School of Journalism's Miller Reading Room at the University of Georgia along with the published works of other Georgia alums. I WISH GOD WOULD CHANGE HIS MIND is the story of a child dealing with the loss of his grandfather. It is written in a child's voice in the hope of helping children accept the death of a loved one. "I wish God would change his mind" was said by my eight-year-old son as we were walking into the church for his grandfather's funeral. The story grew from there. LORD, LORD is the story of a woman who dies and goes to Heaven, only to learn that she has been murdered. She finds out "whodunit" by learning about who does - and does not - arrive in Heaven besides her. TAKE THIS MAN is the story of three women who were married to the same soldier at different periods of his life. They meet at his funeral. Sparks fly. Intimacies are shared. At the end of the day, they have learned more about their shared husband and themselves than they ever imagined. A WORKING TITLE MEMORY is the story of a woman working through the memories of her recently deceased mother with the unexpected help of a famous neighbor. and THESE LINES is the early poetry of this novelist: simple, direct, powerful. I post excerpts from my books and articles on topics of interest on HubPages.com where other writers voted me one of the top 100 New Hubbers of 2011. http://kathleencochran.hubpages.com. I write from the experiences of my life as the better half of a professional soldier; as the mother of three children who grew to seek adventures of their own; as a newspaper reporter working in small towns in the metropolitan Atlanta community rising to the rank of editor and political consultant. I have lived in places like Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during the time of Desert Storm, Germany in the 1980s, have traveled to five continents, and write in telling facts from those experiences. Reviews on Amazon and/or GoodReads are appreciated or feel free to contact this author on FaceBook at Kathleen Cochran & Associates. NO: "Upended" is not one of my books. There actually is another Kathleen Cochran.
