Hi, I'm Kenny Gould! I write fantasy and science fiction filled with strange worlds, awesome magic, and questionable companions. My most popular book, The Castle of 1,000 Doors, features a fast-talking, electromagnetically charged potato named Spud—which should give you a pretty good sense of what you’re getting into. Before writing fantasy, I spent years as one of the country’s foremost beer writers, contributing to Bon Appétit, Men’s Health, Gear Patrol, and Thrillist. In 2017, I founded Hop Culture, a beer magazine that was acquired in 2020 by Next Glass. I hold a BA in English from Duke University, an MFA from Chatham University, and an MBA from NYU Stern—none of which adequately prepared me to write about weaponized potatoes. Some of my favorite authors include Will Wight, N.K. Jemisin, Josiah Bancroft, Tamsyn Muir, Mark Lawrence, and Brandon Sanderson.
