My new book, THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER, is published by Canongate and will be out in July 2022 . I hope that this book grips you as much as it gripped me. In it you will meet three fierce women - Cora, Angel and Freya. Their capacities for love, courage, survival and violence is tested in this novel that was, for me, about sin rather than crime, about revenge and a wild kind of justice that women sometimes mete out when the law fails them. Some of you might know my five Clare Hart novels, which prompted one kind reviewer to describe me in The Weekender as the ‘queen of South African crime-thriller writers.’ I was born in London, raised in Namibia and educated in South Africa. I was lucky enough to live in New York City for a couple of years. I live in London now and did a PhD in creative writing at the University of East Anglia.
