Michele lives in North Carolina with her husband and two daughters. Ever since her children were born, she and her husband have read to them before bed. As the girls grew, they began asking for made-up stories where Michele would oblige with their favorite stuffed animals as main characters or the children going on adventures. Sometimes, they would tell the story together, taking turns. Sometimes, they would create monsters for the stories, complete with drawn images. Journey to Green Mountain began this way with two boys running away into a forest. It grew and became something more as the children shaped the creatures and asked for more. Michele prefers brainstorming on paper while snuggling their small dog, Nancy. When it comes time to type them, Nancy does her best to nose her way in or distract her by zooming to the back door whenever a squirrel dares enter the backyard. When not writing, Michele is busy cooking, baking, fishing, or rereading her favorite stories.
