Nick Meacher is a seasoned emergency management expert with more than three decades of experience helping communities, airports, and agencies prepare for and respond to everything from major disasters to everyday disruptions. His path has included police work on the streets of London, search-and-rescue missions in rugged wilderness, extensive emergency medical response (including wilderness medicine), building resilient communications systems (with interoperability and encryption for public safety), managing large-scale logistics during statewide COVID operations, and supporting national alert and warning programs. Living and working across environments like Alaska's wilderness, Pennsylvania's hills, and Colorado's high plains has given him a grounded, real-world perspective on what actually happens in different places. Nick is a dedicated educator and lifelong learner: an Amateur Extra-class ham radio operator since 1992 and leader of a testing team, an instructor in wilderness first aid & survival, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Emergency Medical Technician skills, incident command, exercise design, continuity planning, and more. He has created medical and communications training programs for preparedness groups that go beyond conventional approaches, and he contributes to preparedness magazines.
