Nik Kennedy is a tricuspid atresia survivor who has endured five open-heart surgeries. He spent the 90s watching TV and playing Super Nintendo until his eyes bled—occasionally inspired to write his own stories. He found his true calling in the sci-fi of Robert A. Heinlein’s Starship Troopers, where humanity fights for survival against an alien threat. After school, Nik battled California wildfires in 2008 and spent years traveling and working up and down the West Coast before settling in the Pacific Northwest to raise his family. His writing life began with a three-page assignment in third grade about an unidentified army fighting a dragon in a castle, titled “The Castle”. After losing his father in 2024, Nik promised him to transform that childhood story into an expansive universe—one where humanity faces horrors from beyond the stars just like his dad did. Now he spends his time with his family, writing, taking photographs, and stargazing. Anyone can do this, so don’t ever give up, and when you look up into space, something is always watching back.
